Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Dances into Spring 2005

“Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Dances,” the annual spring concert of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Dance Department, will take place on Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m. in Garrison Theater. The program features original dance pieces choreographed by students, faculty, and guest artists. Tickets will be sold at the Garrison Theater Box Office beginning at 5 p.m. before each performance; general admission is $10.00, and $5.00 for seniors and Claremont Colleges students, faculty, and staff. Providing an opportunity for students, faculty, and guest artists to debut original choreography and performance work, “Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Dances” is one of the highlights of the dance department’s spring calendar. This year’s concert brings the work of seven students to the stage and includes the culmination of four senior projects. A variety of dance forms are represented including modern, jazz, and contemporary ballet. Student choreographers include Tova Eisner (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’06), Melissa Falcetti (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’05), Yael Japha (Pitzer ’06), Katy Lind (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’06), Nkechi Njaka (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’05), Eliza Pfister (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’05), and Molly Rogers (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­’05). The students will also perform a flamenco work by guest artist, Liliana de Leon Torsiello, two short baroque ballroom dances by O’Brien Professor in Residence, Catherine Turocy, and an experimental performance piece by Joel Smith, Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­dance faculty member.
