What Makes Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Stand Out?

Hello Everyone!

Today, I will discuss what makes Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»stand out as its own institution, specifically stuff that I wish I had known coming into Scripps. When I think about this, a few main things come to mind.

  1. While Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is an academically rigorous environment, classes will challenge people and force them to look at what they know and question their knowledge and how they learn things. However, while all this is true in many places, what sets Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»apart is how the social environment does not have a toxic competitive culture. People don’t feel the need to diminish others’ accomplishments to celebrate their accomplishments. Everyone here celebrates each other, and it is so fun to see everyone excel!
  2. Another thing that sets Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»apart is being a part of The Claremont College. At the 5Cs, we share so many of our resources; because of this and our proximity, we can build a large community with a lot to offer.
  3. Something that sets Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»apart is the community around the college. The Claremont village not only houses plenty of restaurants and study spots for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»students but also hosts many resources for our students. The community also participates in and attends many Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»events, like the Friday concerts at noon, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Presents events, and more!
  4. Finally, something that sets Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»apart is the science department. The science department is currently a joint department with Pitzer and Claremont McKenna College. In Fall 2024, another space will be opening, The Nucleus, and the joint department will become just Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Pitzer. Something awesome about the joint department is that 60% of the students are Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»students. Not to mention that the professors are also minority-gender dominated.

Hopefully, this blog post has helped you understand what sets Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»apart from other institutions and helped you learn more about Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»so you can better decide which colleges are right for you!
